With our blog posts on the e-mail marketing and marketing automation, we have already provided a first insight into the possibilities for controlling and automating our marketing and sales activities in Odoo. To complement this, we are now taking a look at the area of social media.

In both private and corporate environments, numerous social media channels offer us very good opportunities to generate content and clicks. At the same time, it can be very time-consuming to regularly log into the various channels, produce the content, keep track of it and, above all, respond to comments on the posts, thus ensuring permanent interaction with interested parties.

With the Social Marketing module, Odoo offers us a great way to simplify this process. With the help of the module, we connect the accounts of our social media channels directly with Odoo and control our content easily from the ERP system. We'll show you exactly how this works in today's blog.

There are three different access rights in the Social Marketing module. For a user without access right, the module is not visible in the dashboard. A user with the access right "Social Poster" has access to the overview of the social media channels connected to Odoo as well as to the posts. The users with the access right "Social Manager" have the full access to the module and can additionally manage the social media channels connected to Odoo.

In the first step, we navigate into the module to the menu item "Configuration" → "Social Media". There we can see all the social media channels that we can connect to Odoo. Facebook, LinkedIn, Twitter and, new in Odoo version 15, Instagram and YouTube are available to us. In addition, we also control push notifications on our website from this. Also new in Odoo 15 is the multi-company feature related to our social media channels. So if we work with several companies in Odoo and they each have their own accounts in the social media channels, we can assign these accounts to the companies in Odoo.

Once we have connected the desired social media channels, we can generate our content. To do this, we navigate to the "Feed" menu item and click on the "New Post" button or we go to the "Posts" menu item and click on "Create". Now we select the social media channels where we want to post the post. Then we enter the text of the post and optionally upload an image.

Selecting a campaign allows us to link to e-mail and SMS Marketing . With this, we plan campaigns consisting of newsletters, posts on social networks, SMS and/or push notifications. Finally, we define whether we want to post the post directly or schedule it for a later date. After saving, the post is in the "Draft" or "Scheduled" status. If the post was published by clicking the "Post" button or at the previously defined time period, it gets the status "Posted".

Let's now take a look at the various menu items. In the "Feed" menu item, Odoo provides us with an overview of all the posts posted in the respective social media channels. We can comment on or like the posts via this. In addition, we can see some KPIs of the social media channels, such as the number of followers and interactions of a channel.

In the "Posts" menu item, we can see all our posts, including posts in draft status or scheduled posts. We can filter them by status or by company. In addition, we have various views available here, such as the list or calendar view. Especially the calendar view is useful if we plan most of our posts for the future. Creating a new post here is also possible directly from the calendar view.

As mentioned above, we can also use the posts in our campaigns. The "Campaigns" menu item takes us to the overview of our campaigns and allows us to add new posts to a campaign. In the "Visitors" menu item, we can see the visitors to our website and, for each individual visitor, the length of stay on our website as well as the pages and products visited. We will go into more detail about this in one of our next blog posts about the website in Odoo. Finally, as mentioned at the beginning, we manage our social media channels via the "Configuration" menu item.

So we keep in mind that by integrating our social media channels into Odoo and managing our content centrally, we not only save time, but also keep track of our posts at all times. We manage not only the posts themselves, but also any interactions.

For our marketing and sales activities, the module also offers some advantages. In each posted article, Odoo provides us with overviews via various smart buttons, in which we can see how many clicks, sales opportunities, sales orders and revenues were generated by the post or links contained in it. So, in addition to email marketing and marketing automation, social marketing also directly influences the success of generating our sales.
